Support the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center (GCJDC) Literacy

Wright’s House of Hope continues to support the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Facility (GCJDF).  In addition to ministering to the teens on a regular basis, WHOH Board Member Taylor Reynolds has been working with GCJDF Program Manager Mark Caligaris to improve the facility’s library.  In 2015, the only books available to the teens were stored on two carts.  Due to generous donations (there is no funding for the library), at the end of 2017 there were more than 1700 titles in the library!

With the availability of more books for the teens, the GCJDF has been able to hold reading contests throughout the year with the goal of improving literacy.  The kids are reading more and enjoying the books.

You can help support improved literacy for the teens by buying a book(s) for their library!

With the help of a local high school librarian, we have a list of books we are looking for to improve the collection.  GCJDF has created an Amazon Registry with this list.  Click on the link below for instructions on how you can find the registry and buy a book(s) for GCJDF.

Thank you!!!!

Amazon Registry (yes, it's a wedding registry.  We used that since you can buy an item and it will ship directly to the GCJDF Librarian) - input GCJDF and then hit Search.
